AFDP to host Soccerex 'Asian Forum' in Jordan in 2014
The Asian Football Development Project (AFDP) has signed a new agreement with Soccerex to hold the Soccerex 'Asian Forum' in Jordan in May 2014.
The event will bring together the leading administrators and business figures in Asian football with their global counterparts to look at the development of football across the Asian continent. The agreement was signed in the Jordanian capital by Chairman and Founder of AFDP HRH Prince Ali Bin Al Hussein and Soccerex CEO Duncan Revie.
“The Soccerex Asian Forum in Jordan will definitely break new ground, not only for Jordanian football, but for the development of the sport across Asia. There are certainly many opportunities in Asian football that we need to tap into and invest in and the Soccerex Asian Forum provides us with an excellent opportunity to bring all stakeholders together in order for us to reach our full potential," Prince Ali said, who also serves as FIFA Vice President representing Asia.
Soccerex CEO, Duncan Revie commented: “It is an honour to be bringing Soccerex to Jordan. The country is the gateway to Asia, an immensely populous region with a huge passion for football and huge potential for business. HRH Prince Ali’s vision for football and the role it can play in Asia is truly inspiring and I am delighted Soccerex can play a part in that through the Soccerex Asian Forum. The fact we are holding the event in a magnificent resort overlooking the Dead Sea makes it an even more attractive proposition!“
The Forum will be a continuation of Jordan’s rising profile on the world football stage with the nation reaching the 2014 FIFA World Cup Final playoffs and recently being announced as the host of the 2016 FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup.
The AFDP, launched in Jordan in January 2012, is a non-profit youth commission founded and chaired by Prince Ali Bin Al Hussein. With the support of its Official Partner PepsiCo, AFDP focuses its needs-based support on promoting social development through football across Asia, with a special emphasis on grassroots and youth development, advancing women’s football and empowering women, as well as protecting and developing the game.

AFDP support West Asian women referees for UEFA-led referee course
The Asian Football Development Project (AFDP), a football and development non-profit organization headed by HRH Prince Ali Bin Al Hussein, has lent its support to a group of talented female referees from West Asia to participate in a refereeing course sponsored by the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA).
In coordination with the West Asian Football Federation (WAFF), 8 female referees and assistant referees were selected to join UEFA's Centre of Refereeing Excellence (CORE) program in Nyon, Switzerland. The referees represented Iran (Shiva Yari), Lebanon (Hoda El Awaidi), Jordan (Esra´a Almbaidin) and assistant referees from Iran (Masoumeh Shakouri, Samaneh Mohsenikiasari), Jordan (Heba Abed) and Palestine (We´am M.A Radayda).
The CORE program covered theoretical, on-field practical and fitness training under the supervision of former FIFA referees Wendy Toms and Claudine Brohet, and FIFA assistant referees Maria Luisa Villa Guitierrez and Leif Lindberg. They discussed clips and regulations and listened to presentations given by UEFA Referee Committee Members David Elleray and Dagmar Damkova. On-field exercises included problem solving techniques focusing on teamwork, positioning, personality, Laws of the Game, and disciplinary control.
"This is a fantastic opportunity from UEFA for women from the region to gain top level training, I hope it will help them improve the quality of refereeing and women's football in general back in their countries. Wishing them all the best of luck," Prince Ali said.
Huda Al Awadi from Lebanon stressed the importance of such exchanges for the development of women's refereeing, "I have learned a lot from a European point of view which is quite different, I'm very thankful to AFDP, WAFF and UEFA for this challenging but extremely beneficial learning experience," she said.
"The course assisted me with pinpointing my strengths and weaknesses," said We´am Radayda, Assistant Referee from Palestine. "It was thorough and extremely professional, I can't wait to share what I've learned with my colleagues in Palestine," she added.
Jordanian Assistant Referee Heba Abed commended the encouraging approach of the instructors at CORE. "The instructors made sure we felt supported and empowered throughout the course, they created a positive environment for us to improve our skills and techniques not just in football refereeing but also fitness and language," she said.

FIFA Club World Cup 2013: today opening with RAJA Casablanca( Morocco) vs Auckland City( New Zealand)

Morocco’s Raja Club Athletic and New Zealand side Auckland City FC kick off the FIFA Club World Cup 2013 this Wednesday gunning for a victory that would be a twofold boon. For both clubs, a win would be a huge confidence booster and would break a run of poor results both in their domestic leagues and in this competition.
The matchRaja Casablanca-Auckland City, Agadir Stadium, Wednesday 11 December, 19.30 (local time)
Getting back to winning ways after a month of disappointment is the mission for Raja Casablanca in the tournament hosted in their own county. The Moroccan champions are seeking to bounce back from a string of defeats that triggered the dismissal of coach Mohamed Fakhir, the man who had led the team to the domestic title. Making progress in the competition would give one of Morocco’s most historical clubs, who are taking part in the Club World Cup for the second time, an enormous lift. It would also be welcome news for a country that has been starved of success in international football competitions in recent times.
It’s a similar story for Auckland City. Despite being top of the New Zealand championship, the team arrives in Morocco hoping to wipe out the memory of three opening-game eliminations at previous Club World Cups (2006, 2011 and 2012). It goes without saying Auckland would like to repeat their 2009 effort, when they won two matches in the United Arab Emirates. Putting on a good show in a country where the fans are fanatical about their football is good motivation for Ramon Tribulietx’s charges. The coach is still trying to hit upon the right formula following the recent departure of key players such as Albert Riera and Manel Exposito.
The stat
2 – Auckland City and Raja Casablanca have taken part in six FIFA Club World Cups between them, but have clocked up just two victories in ten matches. Both came in 2009, when the New Zealanders achieved a historic fifth place. The Moroccans took part in the 2000 tournament, losing all three of their games.

The words“Auckland City have played in this competition several times and have achieved some good results. We’ll be giving it our all to win. Anything but victory would be a huge disappointment for the Moroccan people, who are fed up with defeats. We have our hearts set on overcoming this first hurdle,” Raja Casablanca defender Mohamed Oulhaj.
“We’ll be playing in a football-mad country. The atmosphere will be amazing and we need to be at the top of our game. Raja are one of Africa’s most historical clubs and have been national champions many times. We have to enjoy the experience, but we want to be competitive and play well,” Auckland City coach Ramon Tribulietx.
