Australia candidate for the AFC Asian Cup 2015

The Football Federation of Australia (FFA) will formally hand over its bid to host AFC Asian Cup 2015 at a ceremony at AFC Headquarters on, July 29, AFC announced on Thursday. The FFA is the only candidate to bid to host the 2015 edition of AFC’s flagship tournament for national teams. FFA Chairman Frank Lowy and Chief Executive Ben Buckley are scheduled to hand over the bid book to AFC President Mohamed Bin Hammam at 9am Kuala Lumpur time (GMT +8).
The tournament will feature the best 16 teams in Asia vying the prestigious title of continental champions.AFC executive committee is due to make a final decision on the host association in its meeting in January 2011 on the sidelines of AFC Asian Cup Qatar 2011™ Finals. The AFC Asian Cup 2007 finals was staged in Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand and Vietnam while the 2004 edition was held in China. Australia joined AFC in 2006, having previously represented Oceania.
