Selangor retain Malaysian title

Selangor picked up their second Malaysian Super League title on the trot after downing Terengganu 2-0 at the Shah Alam Stadium.
With one match left to play in the 14-team league, Mohd Amirulhadi Zainal (67) and Safiq Rahim (penalty; 74) were on target for Selangor, handing them a five-point lead that cannot be overhauled.
Selangor are on 63 while second-placed Kelantan, who defeated Johor FC 3-1, are on 58.
Terengganu’s Mohd Ashaari Shamsuddin, Joseph Kallang Tie and Abdul Manaf Mamat set the early momentum but failed to create a way past the rival defence.
The first goal came when Amirul headed past Mohd Sharbinee, sending the 10,000 home fans into raptures.
Seven minutes later, Mohd Amri was hacked down inside the box and Safiq was flawless from the spot.
Selangor earlier won the Charity Shield this season.
At the lower end of the table, Johor Pasir Gudang (16) and Pulau Pinang (10) look destined for relegation.
