Lekhwiya hold Al Arabi to 1-1 draw to inch closer to the QSL title

QSL leaders scored an injury time equalizer against immediate chasers Al Arabi in a contested a 1-1 draw in a shifty 17th round match in the Qatar Stars League on Saturday.

It was the first competitive fixture for Jamal belmadi's side with a nearly full squad in over a month, and they can be pleased with the unity and discipline they had shown, particularly with prolific striker Mohammed Razaq missing from the starting line-up.

After a dull 45 opening minutes, Al Arabi took the lead through midfielder Abdulaziz Hatim, who fired from outside the box leaving keeper Baba Malick motionless in the56th minute.

That was just the tip of the iceberg for Lekhwiya's problems, Aruna Dindane and Luiz Martin were both sent off for reckless challenges by Swiss referee Bussacka.

Al Arabi solely steered the game from there, wasting many openings in front of the goal to double or even triple their tally, thus making Lekhwiya's equalizer devastating, Bakari Koni delivered a moment of magic when he curled in a free-kick from 20-yards past Rajab Hamza who touched the ball with his finger tips into the back of the net.

Quincy Owusu firma por el club Al Sadd de Qatar

El ex-jugador del RC Celta de Vigo, Quincy Owusu, que militó en España hace dos temporadas tras el descenso a Segunda división, ha dejado el Porstmouth para firmar con el Al Sadd de Qatar, uno de los clubes árabes más importantes. Ayer fue presentado con su nuevo club.Tras formarse en el Ajax de Amsterdam, el jugador holandés con pasaporte ghanés, jugó en el Arsenal y el Spartak de Moscú antes de recalar en el Celta. Posteriormente estuvo cedido en el Birmingham, el Cardiff y el Portsmouth. Su objetivo es estar en la próxima Copa del Mundo de Sudáfrican con Ghana, donde ha perdido la internacional en los últimos encuentros.

El brasileño Daniel Carvalho firma por el Al Arabi( Qatar)

El delantero brasileño Daniel Carvalho deja el CSKA de Moscú para firmar un contrato de un año y medio por el club Al Arabi( Qatar). Las condiciones económicas no se han dado a conocer. Carvalho llegó al fútbol ruso en enero de 2003 y allí ha obtenido grandes éxitos como la Copa de la UEFA 2005. En su tiempo del CSKA fue elegido ese mismo año como mejor jugador de la Liga rusa. Ahora llega a Qatar a un equipo que está clasificado en el tercer puesto de la Liga, con 27 puntos en 11 partidos, a seis del líder Al Saad.
